This project began with a decal. At least in concept. The client liked the decal, but not quite. It had elephants, giraffes, rhinoceroses and monkeys. But she didn’t want the monkeys. The size was small. And then there was color. Brown. What shade of brown would it be? Anyone who has ordered anything online, knows that [...]
We worked with Interior Designer Sharon Flatley on this mural. She gave us a concept and we started with a pencil sketch. Revised it. Then created a color rendering, before finally painting the mural on the wall. The process is key to communication with the client and designer so that every one’s input can be [...]
In the tiger lilly room, we created a Rousseau-esque jungle mural with layers of vegetation and lounging tiger.
We strive to provide environments with our children’s murals. As an artist, I feel that the current trend of clipart murals creates disconnected images that sometime don’t relate in concept or style. When doing a custom mural, I take the concepts and characters and put them into a world with perspective and space. The rooster [...]
Watercolor artist, Elizabeth Meaney, of Austin joined Artisan Finishes for this children’s mural at Sunrise Montessori. She and I met years ago in architecture school at UT Austin. After two years of drafting she shifted her focus to Art and Art History and continued her studies in France. Over the years I have turned to [...]
During the Holidays we went down to Round Rock and painted some murals for Sunrise Montessori. One of which was “The Dandelion”. Sunrise Montessori has expanded and our lion will welcome the kids into the new space in the new year.
This is a stop motion movie of Dawn Cleaves of Artisan Finishes painting [...]
Recently we had the enjoyable experience of painting a fun and imaginative children’s mural with a surf shop theme. The designer gave us a concept. We pulled colors from the bedding that had been selected. After approval of a prelimary sketch, we came in and painted the single wall mural in one day.
Last month we had the pleasure to participate in Metrocon12 at Dallas Market Hall. This was our first trade show so we weren’t really sure what to expect, but we had a blast!
Metrocon gave us the perfect opportunity to “strut our stuff” and, I have to [...]
This baroque frame began as a concept from Lisa Robinson of Dwell with Dignity. Teen Dwell had used chalk board paint to create a giant chalk board for the children at Family Gateway to express their creativity on. And of course the children’s art was worthy of framing. So we were set with the task [...]
For this project we used BioSheild no Voc paint on the walls. The Faux Drapes were done in the studio and then wallpapered up. This minimized paint smell in the room and also minimized the downtime. Our client was a young girl with health issues who lived in a hospital bed. Designer Karla Trincanello’s [...]
