Tastes change.  It’s a fact of life.  Everyone knows it’s easy to change the color of your walls when you’re tired of the color that you fell in love with several years back.  But what about that stone fireplace.  It may seem so overwhelming to have grown tired of the stone that you once loved and feel trapped and not able to do anything about it short of bringing in a jackhammer.  Designer Susan Mock asked the question,”Can you paint a stone fireplace to look like Austin stone?”

Before

Original Fireplace

Yes.  A quick walk through the neighborhood to look at which Austin stone we wanted to copy and then we were off.  It only took two days and no jackhammer to give this fireplace a bright facelift.

Process

Masking off.
