As school rolls around this fall, my second summer with Artisan Finishes comes to a close. These past two years I’ve been fulfilling a Summer internship with this company and over that time I feel like I’ve really become part of the team. As part of my role I go out with Dawn and the other artists on job sites, which is one of my favorite parts of the experience: seeing and transforming a normal surface to art. We’ve gone to a wide range of places during my time here; from painting concrete bollards in Fort Worth to applying venetian plaster to the walls of a Ritz-Carolton condo. Together we’ve painted a mural in the cafeteria of a local elementary school as volunteer work and turned a sandstone fireplace into a limestone one. I think that’s what I loved most about this, the fact that it’s always different and surprising.

All in all I’ve greatly valued my time here. The irreplaceable skills and experience I’ve gained with this company will stay with me throughout my career and wherever it takes me because they will always be applicable, both in the professional world and the perseverance it takes to survive there. I thank Dawn and the other artists here for giving me this opportunity, I assure you it’s one I’ll never forget.
